Michel Kiriliuk est né en 1952 au Maroc, d’un père russe et d’une mère italienne. Cette pluralité culturelle lui a conféré un bagage artistique qui en fait un artiste complet. Dès l’âge de 16 ans, il quitte l’école pour travailler de ses mains. À 22 ans, il commence la peinture en se rendant régulièrement au Louvre pour copier les grands Maîtres. Il est grandement influencé par la période antique, qui marque une partie de son oeuvre sculpturale. En plus d’être peintre, sculpteur, Michel est architecte et designer. Il crée, et produit, tout autant d’objets utilitaires allant des lampes, aux tables, à des jeux d’échecs qu’il façonne, des masques « mythologiques » qui vous interpellent et semblent sortis de la nuit de l’histoire avec une présence tellement contemporaine.
Michel pose toutes sortes de questions : Comment se positionner pour faire une oeuvre viable au début du XXIe siècle ? Quelle direction choisir ? Quel sujet ? Quelle technique ? Quel but ? On peut imaginer une oeuvre qui traversera le temps grâce à la qualité de son support de la matière picturale, des assemblages, grâce au choix de son sujet ? De l’oeil averti d’un marchand d’art et de ses clients ?
Il n’accepte pas le diktat des règles consensuelles du marché business. Il veut être un homme libre de son rendu, quel que soit le support. Il s’interroge toujours : Pourquoi créer ? Pour prouver ? Pour se prouver ? Pour laisser une trace qui traversera encore l’esprit du futur ? Pour soi ? Que faire pour s’insérer dans l’espace ? Toutes ces interrogations sont sérieuses. Mais Michel a trouvé sa réponse, il l’a choisie, elle est très personnelle : il se situe dans cet espace de liberté qui lui autorise de se transcender de ce que le moment lui donne, de ce que le temps lui offre.
Loin des diktats, extraire les pulsions Nul besoin pour notre artiste de se comparer, cela ne l’intéresse plus, il a la maîtrise de toutes ses formes, de toutes les matières désirées, qui lui permettent de créer l’indispensable de ses intimes réflexions. Jusqu’à quand ? Peu lui importe le temps, ce qu’il demande, c’est encore un moment. Celui qui devient intemporel et qui fait que, aussi bien au travers de la sculpture, de la peinture, de ses objets design, il ne compte plus ni ne décompte. La création, c’est une expression permanente.
L’oeuvre est complète et pourtant toujours incomplète. Il n’a de cesse d’extraire ces pulsions créatives qui lui ressemblent. Elles le reflètent : il est paisible, serein, il aime la vie, il aime son travail, sa famille, ses amis, et ils le lui rendent bien.

He left school to work with his hands at the age of 16, and when he was 22 he began painting regularly by visiting the Louvre to copy the great masters. He was also greatly influenced by the ancient period, which marks part of his sculptural work. In addition to being a painter and sculptor, Michel is an architect and designer who creates and produces many utility items ranging from lamps and tables to chess sets, in addition to « mythological » masks that challenge you and seem to spring from the mists of time with a very contemporary presence.
Michel raises all sorts of questions: How should he position himself to make a viable work at the beginning of the 21st century? What direction should he choose? What subject? What technique? What purpose? Can one imagine a work that traverses time thanks to the quality of its support of the pictorial material, its composition, the choice of the subject. To the discerning eye of an art dealer and his customers?
He does not accept the diktat of consensual rules of the business market. He wants to be a man free to express himself, regardless of the medium. He always asks himself: Why create? To prove what? To prove oneself? To leave a trace that traverses the spirit of the future? For himself? What does he have to do to fit in the space? All these questions are serious. But Michael has found his answer; he has decided; it is very personal: it is in this space of freedom that allows him to transcend what the moment offers him, what time offers him.
Far from dictates, bring out the impulses
There is no need for our artist to compare himself, this no longer interests him; he has mastered all the forms, all the desired materials, which allow him to create the essential of his intimate thoughts. Until when? The time it takes is of no importance, it is still but a moment. Whoever becomes timeless by creating through sculpture, painting, or the design of objects, no longer counts time. Creation is a permanent expression.
The work is complete, and yet still incomplete. It never ceases to bring out those creative impulses that resemble him. They reflect him: he is peaceful, serene, he loves life, he loves his work, his family, his friends, and they return the favour.
